Sex Therapy

An active sex life is an important part of a healthy relationship. It is estimated that over one third of the adult population experience sexual problems at some stage in their lives. Sexual problems are often at the heart of relationship breakdown. There are many physical and emotional reasons why this can happen such as anxiety, stress, tiredness, illness, work pressures, new baby etc. Sexual and relationship counselling can be helpful for an individual or couple who feel sexual difficulties are affecting their quality of life in an emotional psychological or physical way. The following are some of the problems people can present with.

  • Lack of sexual desire in either men or women.
  • Premature ejaculation.
  • Erectile dysfunction - inability to maintain an erection.
  • Male orgasmic dysfunction - inability to ejaculate.
  • Dyspareunia - Recurrent or persistent genital pain associated with sexual intercourse.
  • Vaginismus - where penetration proves impossible.
  • Anorgasmia - female unable to achieve an orgasm.

People can sometimes find it very difficult to talk about personal issues however I have been trained to help the client explore their problems in a safe, confidential and non judgemental way. Sex therapy benefits couples and individuals who are experiencing sexual difficulties and who would like to work on a solution or find a new way of dealing with the problem.
